Nagee Green: New York; Bulletin; (Defence attack on alleged confession at core of case)...The jury viewed a video of a police interview that the prosecution says contains an admission of guilt. ..."Green was read his rights at the beginning of the interview and was reminded he could ask for a lawyer at any time. Investigators did most of the talking in the opening hour of the video, saying Green owes it to the Nazaire family to tell the truth and provide closure. Investigators told Green the fatal stabbing may have been an accident and it would help Green’s case to be honest about it. After about an hour of trying to get Green to speak about the night of the stabbings, investigators got Green to confirm he was holding a knife during the fight. “I didn’t stab anyone,” Green said multiple times." "The jury in the murder trial of Nagee Green on Friday viewed a video of a police interview that the prosecution says contains an admission of guilt by the defendant. At more than three hours long, the video was played at the Tompkins County Courthouse during the testimony of Investigator Kevin McKenna, of the Ithaca Police Department. The jury began viewing the video before lunch, watched about an hour after lunch, and will finish the video on Monday. Green, 23, of Freeville, is accused of fatally stabbing 19-year-old Ithaca College student Anthony Nazaire to death following a party on Cornell's campus in the early hours on Sunday, Aug. 28. Green has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault. Nazaire’s classmate, Rahiem Williams, suffered three stab wounds but made a full recovery. According to testimony, the incident began when Williams bumped into a woman walking through Ho Plaza at Cornell. Several smaller fights broke out, leading to the two young men being stabbed. McKenna conducted the interview of Green with Investigator Rick Haas, of the New York State Police, at the state police barracks on Nov. 7. Green was read his rights at the beginning of the interview and was reminded he could ask for a lawyer at any time. “I didn’t stab anyone,” Green said multiple times." ........Before the video was shown, Tompkins County Assistant District Attorney Eliza Filipowski asked McKenna if Green ever requested a lawyer, and McKenna said no. McKenna also denied Green was threatened during the interview. The jury is expected to finish the video on Monday, and then the defense will begin presenting its case. The case could go to the jury by Tuesday or Wednesday."
