"This is the moment Ellie Butler’s frantic mother was caught on CCTV making a desperate dash for home after her partner allegedly told her he had murdered their daughter. In footage from October 29 2013, Jennie Gray can be seen running from her office at 20 Old Bailey in the City of London and hurriedly hailing a taxi back to the family address in Sutton, 12 miles away. The graphic designer was picked up by cab driver Derek Greenwood amid a flurry of phone calls and texts to her partner Ben Butler on the day of six-year-old’s Ellie death.  Butler is on trial at the Old Bailey charged with Ellie's murder, while he is also accused along with Gray of child cruelty over an untreated broken shoulder Ellie suffered weeks before her death. Giving evidence yesterday after the CCTV footage was shown to the jury, Mr Greenwood said 36-year-old Gray appeared “anxious” and said: “Can you take me? My child's really ill.” CCTV: Jennie Gray rushes to hail a cab from her offices near to the Old Bailey (Metropolitan Police) During the £50 journey, the couple exchanged calls lasting a matter of seconds. Mr Greenwood told the court he overheard her on her mobile phone in the taxi saying loudly "You have done what?", "You have gone where?" and "You're joking". Ben Butler denies murder, while he and Jennie Gray, pictured, both deny child cruelty He said she appeared "slightly agitated” and “wanted to get to her destination". Prosecutors allege that once Gray arrived home, she helped Butler to stage a fall to make Ellie’s injuries – including a fractured skull - appear accidental. ........Butler denies murder, while he and Gray both deny child cruelty."
