STORY: "What now for the Lockerbie families? Some families of UK victims of Pan Am 103 want Abdelbaset al-Megrahi's conviction overturned," by reporter Gordon Rayner (Chief Reporter), published by The Telegraph on March 10, 2014.

PHOTO CAPTION:  "Dr Jim Swire believes the truth has never been told about the death of his daughter Flora and 269 others aboard Pan Am 103."

GIST: "Families of the 270 Lockerbie bombing victims have mixed views over the guilt of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, but they are united in their belief that he did not act alone.........But one group of UK-based families hopes to overturn the conviction of Megrahi, who died in 2012, to trigger a fresh investigation into Britain’s worst terrorist atrocity. Dr Jim Swire, whose daughter Flora, 23, was among the dead, is among those applying to the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission for a fresh appeal against Megrahi’s conviction. He has said that if Megrahi’s appeal is overturned, it may “blast a route to a proper inquiry through very reluctant authorities”. Dr Swire, 76, sat through the trial of Megrahi and described the case against him as “rubbish”. The UK Families Flight 103 group, of which he is the most outspoken member, is also considering whether to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. They believe that Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the right to life, also gives the families the right to know why their loved ones’ lives were not better protected."
