STORY:   "David Camm closing arguments: Prosecution says former state trooper acted oddly after murders," by reporter Grace Schneider, published by the Courier-Journal on October 22, 2013. (This story will be updated at the link below);

GIST: "Meyer also said that Camm’s actions between 9:23 and 9:29 after he returned home the night of the murders are unaccounted for. Meyer questioned why Camm didn’t call 9-1-1 during that time. That’s when Camm put a prison sweatshirt that had been issued to Charles Boney underneath Brad on the garage’s floor, continuing to doctor the scene, he argued.“This is when he is finishing it up,” Meyer said of the murders.........Meyer also went through a timeline of events, detailing the prosecution’s evidence, including a blood stain found on Camm’s T-shirt that the prosecution argues was created by high-impact spatter when Jill was shot.........David Camm’s defense pleaded with jurors in closing arguments Tuesday not to continue the injustice that’s been done to Camm over the last 13 years by finding him guilty of killing his wife and two children. Defense lawyer Stacy Uliana said during closing statements that Charles Boney killed Kim, Brad and Jill Camm and that there’s no evidence that supports Boney’s story that he conspired with Camm to carry out the crimes.“The state is trying to sell you a story,” Uliana said. Her animated closing ended with the replaying of a tape recording of Camm calling the Indiana State Police post at Sellersburg to send help. Several members of Camm’s large extended family covered their faces and sobbed as they heard Camm’s voice on the recording: “Get everybody to my house now!” “You can’t fake that,” Uliana said of the panic and desperation in Camm’s voice. The statements by Uliana and earlier by Special Prosecutor Todd Meyer mark the beginning of the end of an eight-week trial that has included dozens of witnesses, including Boney, who testified about events surrounding the Sept. 28, 2000, murders. The jury is expected to get the case Tuesday afternoon after the prosecution offers a final rebuttal. Special Judge Jonathan Dartt also is expected to give the eight women and four men on the jury final instructions. The 12, along with six alternate jurors, are expected to deliberate daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. until they reach a verdict."

See related Courier-Journal story on the judge's charge to the jury: "The judge in David Camm’s triple-murder trial ruled Monday that final instructions will include language that if jurors think Camm aided and abetted in the murders of his wife and children — even if he didn’t pull the trigger — they can convict him. The decision came over vigorous objections from Camm’s lawyer, who said a similar eleventh-hour ruling in Camm’s second trial ultimately led to his conviction being thrown out. It’s a huge development at the end of the eight-week trial because it means that, even if jurors think that Charles Boney committed the slayings, they also can find Camm guilty if they believed he played a role in the slayings, said Scott C. Cox, a veteran defense lawyer in Louisville who is not connected to the case. He heard about the ruling from a reporter."
